A Musical Tour of London

ME London
England’s capital has long been an integral part of the music world. Moving down from their Liverpool roots to London, The Beatles changed rock ‘n’ roll forever; the punk scene rose up out of West London; and the New Romantic movement sprung from a Bowie themed club night in Covent Garden, bringing about the so-called ‘Second British Invasion’. Then there was the birth of Britpop and, more recently, the young London jazz scene and the global takeover of Grime.
The city is responsible for a lot of awesome music, basically, and life would sound a lot different without it. Naturally, London is packed full of still-functioning iconic venues too. There's Ronnie Scott's jazz club in Soho, which has hosted Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald and Jimi Hendrix -- who performed his last ever gig there in the '70s. Or head north to Oxford Street where you’ll come across 100 Club, which has seen everyone from David Bowie and The Rolling Stones, to Oasis descend the stairs to take to their basement stage. Then, perched on the edge of the Thames, there’s Somerset House with its Neoclassical courtyard, home to their infamous Summer Series headlined by Rosalia this summer.
Right across the road from the latter, of course, is the ME London hotel. They’re set on bringing the music to you; ensuring you enjoy what the city has to offer musically, even if your favourite artist isn’t playing or your schedule doesn’t allow it. Curated in partnership with VICE, ME’s hotel soundtracks seamlessly combine the work of cult London artists of yesteryear with more obscure underground releases from today. Think: The Kinks, The Slits and Pulp next to Cosima, Mica Levi and Kamaal Williams. Discover a whole new archive of music that effortlessly spans time, space, genre… without ever leaving the lobby.
